You may not see it very well on the picture, but this design by Celia Forrester actually consists in a Picasso-esque mixture of music instruments parts - guitar, keyboard, drums, trumpet, saxophone,double bass...now that's what I call a loud print!
So, yes, I'm going to turn it into a Ginger. It's not a vintage pattern or even a reissue, but I plan to make a few alterations to give it that 1940s vibe :
- lengthen it a little (if necessary) so it hits just below the knee,
- maybe slash and spread the skirt pannels to make it a bit more flared,
- add patch pocket with flaps and buttons to match the fabric (have yet to find these...)
- make a lapped zipper. I'm feeling a bit anxious about this as it will be my first, and is the waistband not going to prevent me from installing such a kind of zipper? If anyone could give me some advice about it, that would be great!
Je l'avoue tu m'as donné une idée et j'ai ressorti mon patron de ginger (mon premier essai cet été a été un vrai massacre et j'ai caché au fond de mon placard mon horreur...)

Merci! Je n'ai pas énormément avancé dessus pour le moment (emploi du temps de malade au boulot et pas beaucoup de temps pour coudre...aaaarghh!), j'ai juste commencé une toile pour vérifier la forme et le placement des poches (je sais déjà qu'il faut que je refasse mon patron de poche...) et (j'en tremble déjà...^^) je vais aussi me servir de la toile pour me familiariser avec la fermeture éclair cachée (pas sûre que ce soit la bonne traduction pour "lapped zipper" mais j'espère que c'est compréhensible!).
SupprimerHeureusement que dans l'ensemble cette jupe a quand même l'air de se coudre assez rapidement...j'aimerais avoir le temps de me concentrer sur les finitions, c'est mon gros point faible en général!
